Sand-Sifting Starfish

Astropecten polyacanthus

A burrowing starfish that churns the sand bed and feeds on worms, copepods, and small benthic invertebrates living in it. Demands a deep (7 cm+), well-established sand bed and roughly 280 L per specimen; once it exhausts the sand's food supply it quietly starves, so it suits mature systems only.
